- Vivan Y. Finnell, CEO and Co-FounderAbused women in the church suffer an inordinate lack of support. Due to widespread misinterpretation of the scriptures, they are advised to remain in their abusive marriages and discouraged from seeking counseling outside the church. The avenues for in-church counseling are almost non-existent. Few pastors are trained to counsel victims of domestic violence. Furthermore, those brave women who confess their situations are more likely to face hostility than receive support.
